The iPhone 12 is water resistant with IP68 certificationwhich indicates that it is capable of continuing to operate at a depth of 6 meters for 30 minutes. Apple iPhone products are not designed to be submerged in water, in fact the company warns that water damage is not covered under warranty.
Anyway, this iPhone 12 doesn’t need it because after spending 3 months in water it continues to function apparently normally.
On November 12, Lee found an iPhone 12 covered in algae between some rocks from the bottom of the Estanislao River in northern California.
I cleaned it and let it dry for a few days
Surprisingly, the iPhone 12 I didn’t have an unlock code. Lee was thus able to access the photos and contacts on the phone. The most recent file on the device was a video shot in the river on September 4suggesting that the iPhone 12 had been submerged in the river since that day.
At this time, Lee has not been able to find out who the iPhone 12 belongs to. But he plans to investigate by querying some of the contacts stored on the device.
