As is usual at CES, new TV ranges are revealed and LG’s 2024 OLED models, including the C4 and G4, bring new technologies such as the latest advances in artificial intelligence and rates high refresh rates in the industry.
LG already announced its QNED Mini-LED line last week, but it’s the OLED models that will have most consumers excited. Ahead of the official CES kickoff, we have all the details on the C4, G4, M4 and other sets.
One of the biggest innovations this year is a new AI processor that is said to have a 4x increase in performance. The α11 AI processor is found in the G4 and M4, with LG claiming it offers 70% better graphics and 30% better processing. faster compared to α10.
There is no AI that can escape AI at the moment and in this context, these LG OLED TVs can do all kinds of things thanks to the latest upscaling technology that can sharpen objects and backgrounds with pixel-level analysis. AI can also refine color by analyzing frequently used shades, while Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro “adjusts brightness and contrast by analyzing variations in brightness where light enters the scene, creating more three-dimensional images” .
You’ll get all this and more on the LG Signature OLED M4, now available in a new 65-inch size for those who want something less gigantic. This is LG’s wireless model and the first in the world to offer wireless transmission of 4K images at 144 Hz.
This high refresh rate (most recent flagships were 120Hz) is also available on the OLED C4 and OLED G4 in sizes up to 83 inches. Granted, Nvidia G-Sync at 144Hz is a bit overkill, but you can’t say LG isn’t future-proof.
This year, OLED Evo models also benefit from ClearMR certification from the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), although this only applies to the 97-inch models.
LG
LG isn’t talking much about the C4 OLED and that might be because it still has an α9 AI processor. It’s supposed to be brighter than the LG C3 and has a new deep learning database, but few upgrades mean its predecessor could be a real bargain in 2024.
Sound isn’t forgotten with AI Sound Pro using built-in speakers to deliver an 11.1.2 surround sound experience. And users can connect to select LG soundbars wirelessly with Wowcast, making life easier.
Of course, what we don’t know yet is the price of the LG OLED C4, OLED G4 and Signature OLED M4. The OLED B4 will also receive a UK version including a new 48-inch size, but the A4, like the A3, will not be available in Blighty.
Here is the full list of sizes for the LG OLED TV line:
