Happy New Year dear readers! 2024 is also another fantastic year of Switch (i could be Switch 2?) games that are ahead of us, we have to stop, think and look back to 2023 for the last time. eShop selections this month!
December is usually a quiet month for game releases as publishers and developers make room for the holidays and take a well-deserved rest. That doesn’t mean nothing fell on the eShop, of course. We’re here to review the eShop’s best December deals.
Not only that, but we want to highlight every eShop Selects winner from 2024. But before we do, let’s dive into the highlights of December 2023!
Honorable mentions
Now, on December, then. Although it was a quiet month, it wasn’t exactly lacking in quality. Along with the acclaimed indie release, we got a few surprise remasters, a long-awaited indie, and a free-to-play MMO. Before we look at the top three, here are the final honorees for 2023:
Publisher: inkle Studios / Programmer: inkle Studios
Inkle’s latest game has been on our wishlist for a long time, so seeing A Highland Song finally climb to the top of the mountain in December filled us with excitement. And while it may not be the studio’s best work, it’s still an evocative and emotional journey that shed a tear or two.
The star of A Highland Song is Scotland. Inkle’s depiction of the country’s mountains is beautiful and as Moira explores in search of herself and her uncle’s lighthouse, her overactive imagination depicts the myths and legends of the countries. The mythology of the region set against the backdrop of the painted mountains is beautiful, even if the climb is difficult.
When we finished climbing this mountain, we gave A Highland Song a 7/10 in our review.
