Oh yeah! Third try Thursday, here we are (not a problem, but I’m going). After optimistically guessing the word “BEACH” and getting two of the letters I needed, it only took a few more attempts to get today’s word “BLOCK” on my third try. Am I proud? Yes yes I am.

The etymology of today’s Wordle

The current word “BLOCK” derives from the Middle English “BLOK” meaning “log, stump or solid piece”. This makes sense when you think about how we use the word to describe something that often prevents us from accomplishing a task, whether it’s writer’s block or an actual road blocked by traffic.

Furthermore, it is a term that is often used in all games where combat takes place. In these games, you tend to use “BLOCK” to prevent your character from taking damage from an incoming attack or threat.

Meanwhile, Dordle, Quorodly, Octordly and Sedecordle all stick to the standard Wordle, while increasing the number of words you need to find. The challenge lies in how your guesses count for all words. So you need to decide whether you are going to focus on a specific word or try to solve multiple words at the same time. Fortunately, the number of guesses given to you increases as the number of words you have to solve.
