As you may recall, Rise of Ronin recently announced a March 22 release date (in December). The release date trailer is brief and oddly without any sort of in-depth look at the PlayStation blog or elsewhere. For a game that was released in 7 weeks, and it happened to be released on the same date as Dragon’s Dogma 2, there were very few gems to pick up or get excited about.
That all changed during Sony’s State of Play, where Team Ninja delivered a t on of product.
In the gameplay trailer, we saw more bloody Ronin action, with the player character using swords, early guns, and even grappling hooks to navigate war-torn Japan. Not only did we get to see some one-on-one boss fights, but we also saw some intense group battles that were truly thrilling. The game looks great!
Rise of the Ronin is Team Ninja’s first open-world role-playing game. It builds on a lot of what the studio learned from making the great Nioh games, but relies on an evolved structure that might make it more accessible to new players.
It looks like a fast-faced team ninja game, with a grappling hook for combat, more practical firearms, and a range of melee combat styles. It even goes a step further, allowing you to explore the vast world on horseback or using a new glider. And, for the first time, you’ll interact with NPCs in ways other than killing them.
“Rise of Ronin” will be released on PS5 on March 22.
