One of the upcoming features for Diablo 4 that has been anticipated by many in the core community won’t be coming to the game anytime soon as initially planned. Ahead of the launch of Construct Season, Blizzard talked about implementing leaderboards that will be tied to the new Gauntlet endgame dungeon.
The plan is to launch a Constructed Season, give everyone time to explore the new mechanics and content, and then launch the challenges. In other words, expect it to arrive shortly after the third season begins.

This information was still there just two weeks ago, when Diablo boss Rod Fergusson appeared on the Xbox Podcast to discuss the state of the game and announced that both challenges and leaderboards would be coming in February Come the 13th.
That’s no longer the case, as Ferguson has now taken to Twitter to say that the features are being delayed so that developers can ” polish some stuff up.” While the Diablo GM didn’t provide a new release window, he reiterated that they will be released during Season 3, which ends on April 16.

Season of Constructs unexpectedly brings another wrinkle to Diablo 4. We’re calling it a step back in review, and the response from the community so far has been negative. So much so that Blizzard released multiple patches to mitigate the impact of the massive new seasonal mechanic and buff the power of the new companions after many complained they were nearly useless.
While challenges/leaderboards are welcome additions, they are primarily aimed at a group of players who enjoy min-maxing builds, not to mention those who enjoy the in-game titles and bragging rights. Most Diablo 4 players probably won’t reach this point in the endgame, let alone care about features designed to fine-tune their builds.
Diablo 4’s Moonlight Awakens in-game event kicks off later today, and the response to its reveal has been much better, so it’ll be something to keep players waiting for any other announcements from Blizzard in the future.
