At the end of the last State of Play Focused on the upcoming PlayStation 5 releases, Sony announced another presentation dedicated to its biggest February launch: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Weeks before its official launch next February 29, Square Enix presented a new sample of gameplay and what we can expect in the explorable world outside of Midgar. As we had reported, there is already a demo available for free for all PlayStation 5 users.

In addition to the Nibelheim section with Cloud and Sephiroth, a portion of Junon can be freely explored in the demo between now and the game’s release.

While Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red search for Sephiroth and Yuffie joins them at some point, you’ll be able to explore the vast regions and open areas outside of Midgar. Of course Gold Saucer fans will find the rebuilt classic mini-games, such as Chocobo racing, motorcycles (G-Bike) and a polygonal 3D Brawler of yesteryear. New forms of transportation such as a buggy, in addition to the typical Chocobo, will be available for navigation.

An expanded world awaits us outside of Midgar with Cloud and company. We will visit places besieged by war, the invasion of Shinra, its exploitation of Mako energy and others where nature endures in freedom and harmony. There is also space for fun and recreation. The map of FF7 Rebirth maintains a geography with minor similarity with respect to the original of Final Fantasy VII.

Chadley tasks and remnant wave towers

In each region of this open world we must activate the remaining wave towers of the old republic, to open new research opportunities. When visiting a location for the first time, try to spot these towers to get a better view of the surroundings and update the map with natural resources and potential enemies.

Queen’s Blood

This is a new and traditional equivalent of card game for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. In this popular strategic game, each player tries to outdo his opponent by accumulating power with his cards in each line. He collects the different cards and uses his abilities to claim the champion crown in Queen’s Blood.
