Far From Home, developer of early access games eternal skyhas been “secretly collaborating” with Sony for years to bring the sci-fi survival action-adventure game to PlayStation 5.
Sony provided development support and funding for the game, and once it completes Early Access on Steam, Forever Skies will be released simultaneously on PC in 2024 and as a PS5 exclusive. The team has guaranteed that the PC version will not be affected by the PS5 release.
“Far From Home, in partnership with PlayStation, is focused on making Eternal Skies the best it can be when it debuts on consoles,” said game lead Andrzej Blumenfeld. “So, at the end of PC Early Access, when we’re ready to release the full game, we’ll release it on the PlayStation 5 console. But don’t worry, this won’t impact ongoing development or the Steam version being released at the same time.”
In the game, you play as a lone scientist who returns to Earth hundreds of years after a global ecological disaster left the planet covered in a giant layer of toxic dust, making it uninhabitable for humans.
Descending beneath the dust, you discover that the Earth’s surface has changed in humans’ absence, and that the flora and fauna have evolved into dangerous things.
While searching for viral pathogens to cure a mysterious illness that threatens your family, you’ll use science to build and operate different machines, analyze scanned items, reverse engineer lost technology, discover new tools, and research ways to obtain food and resources. New ways to increase your chances of survival.
As you clear the ruined, poisonous skies, you’ll explore and extract the resources you need from the high ruins humans have built to hide from the dust. These raw materials can be harvested from the remains of civilizations that have been reduced to floating debris due to strange anomalies.
During your time on Earth, you will discover secrets of the past, find out why Earth evolved, and how humanity lost control of its former supremacy.
