An ending that stays in your memory (but not for the right reasons)

Almost 5 years later we are still complaining about it. Of course we want to talk about the ending game of Thrones, the phenomenon series that kept its viewers on the edge of their seats until the final season, when all narrative development was wiped out in just 6 episodes. Even if the adaptation of Iron Throne from George RR Martin had its breakthrough in April 2011 and was able to maintain a good pace for a few years, the creative freedom that was taken David Benioff et DB Weiss were right about the continuity of game of Thrones and one of the most iconic characters of our generation.

Even if game of Thrones was supposed to be based on just one book per season, the adaptation began to move away from that Iron Throne from the fourth season onwards, where elements from the fifth book were added that disrupted the narrative of the following seasons. But it wasn’t until the sixth season that the problems really began, with the next novel by George RR Martin had not (and still has) not seen the light of day. The events of the last three seasons were therefore partly invented by the creators and screenwriters, which can be seen very clearly in the rhythm of the episodes, which have become very chaotic, but also in the behavior of the characters – and especially in that of Daenerys Targaryen.

A little hope for a successful adaptation

Of course, there is some concern among fans of the eponymous book on which this series is based, and the creators are aware of it. Fortunately, David Benioff et DB Weiss seem to have learned from their mistakes, because this time they are tackling a trilogy, the last volume of which was published in 2010. They therefore have every chance on their side to offer a faithful adaptation, hopefully at the height of the novels Liu Cixin. The first season will focus on the first book and will be added to the Netflix catalog March 21st. It takes place during the Cultural Revolution in China, where an astrophysicist named Ye Wenjie (played by Zine Tseng et Rosalind Chao) joins the research team at a hidden military base, where she will discover secrets that will have serious implications for the future.
