Gaming News Free female skins in Counter-Strike? That’s what these professional players want, but it causes hysteria among some Internet users…
They wrote an open letter to Valve offering free skins for female characters, which angered some players.
They demand female appearances in Counter-Strike 2
There is no need to introduce Counter-Strike as this FPS, aimed primarily at PC gamers, is still very popular. To the general surprise of fans around the world, Counter-Strike 2 was released last year. This adds this title to the long list of the most important video game licenses that marked 2023. Although not all players agree that they appreciate this new work, especially due to some persistent bugs, it is clear that it still attracts fans of the game license. Unsurprisingly, it is one of the most played video games on Steam.
Recently there was a controversy within the fan base. Professional Counter-Strike 2 players have published an open letter to Valve asking for female skins. If you are familiar with this title, you know that there are some, but they are only available for purchase. This letter posted by Josefine Jensen asks for simple female skins. However, this demand is not unanimous.
A wish that is not unanimous among Counter-Strike fans
In the letter to Valve, Josefine Jensen explains that she shares her passion with millions of gamers, but she feels “as if we were just guests at the party.”. A feeling that the other members of her female team also share: Aurora Lyngdal, Anja Soelberg and Isabella Ferslev, Marie Toft.
Using a female agent skin costs more, while the standard skins are exclusively male. We don’t know why this is, but we do know that it feels both unfair and unwelcoming. In any case, that’s what we feel, and in some ways it confirms the sexism that we unfortunately still face.
Despite the many people supporting this initiative, many have not accepted this request. Some are just plain offensive, while others think that Valve’s priority is not adding skins to please female gamers, but rather fixing bugs that hinder the gaming experience. Currently they have not received a response from the North American company.
