A few months until release Elden’s Ring Shadow of the Treebut in the meantime, there’s now a demo of an impressive Dark Souls 3 mod.
Last month, after two years of waiting, from software A release date for Shadow of the Erdtree has finally been announced. Unfortunately for all of us, we’re still a few months away from the actual release of the DLC, and you can only replay the base game so many times (that thing is so big, I haven’t even seen all the available something to watch)). But if you’re a PC gamer, Dark Souls 3 is getting a new mod that essentially looks like a whole new game. The mod, called “Archthrones,” is described as “a retelling of the Dark Souls universe and a comprehensive game mod for Dark Souls 3, with its own lore that contains some of the most significant elements of the Dark Souls mythology.” Deep secrets. New enemies, bosses, armor, weapons, and spells are just the beginning.”
While the full mod hasn’t been released yet, luckily, there’s a demo available here, which means you can still get by with the full version and Elden Ring’s DLC. On the game’s Nexus Mods page, the modding team went into more detail about what to expect. First, the mod features non-linear progression: “Explore each throne at your own pace and in the order you want. From easiest to most difficult and vice versa, the choice is up to you.” There are also new combat mechanics , such as defense counters, perfect blocks, deflections, and retreat defense cancellations, so if you found Dark Souls 3’s combat too simplistic, there’s plenty to look forward to here, too.

Interestingly, it also states that “the game’s design is inspired by Demon’s Souls level structure” rather than Dark Souls itself, which you can even see in the mod’s logo. The full mod has yet to be announced with a release date, so be sure to keep an eye on Archthrones Team’s YouTube channel for more updates.
