One of the most recurring complaints since the PS5 was launched is the loss of one of the most used features of the PS4: dynamic themes and backgrounds, that allowed you to customize the console. With the arrival of PS5, all customization options disappeared, since the wallpaper became that of each of the installed games.
And although this is not going to change, at least not in the short term, the next PS5 update will allow greater customization to be added to the console. A YouTuber has posted a video
The new functionality, which is still unknown if it will arrive universally for all users, allows you to customize the Explorer through three options, which change the widgets and their position, offering extra information on the content installed on our console, the battery of accessories and Even quick access to screenshots or our wish list.
Dynamic wallpapers arrive on PS5
In this sense, customization is quite limited, and we can only choose between three predefined configuration options, that determine the position of the widgets, each focused on solo players, those who play more with friends. There is also a third option that looks more like a kind of store bulletin board than a friendly interface.
The new Explorer, like the rest of the PS5 interface, focuses primarily on horizontal swiping, so this new option sorts the widgets with those closest to the left based on the chosen setting. For example, for the social option, it will mainly display widgets related to friends, while for the solo option it will display for console and accessory storage.
It also allows you to add wallpapers, even dynamic ones, but, as we see in the video above, They are limited to the PS5 Explorer screen, and the rest of the interface continues to follow the design and options that we have until now. That is, the background changes depending on the selected game. What it does allow is to add a wallpaper from the image gallery, although in no case does it allow said background to be added via USB, so, as we see, it is a fairly limited functionality.
