SEGA may have been canceled hyenabut you shouldn’t count creative assembly Not released yet as reportedly under development star wars total war Next comes the games.
Last year, Sega announced it was canceling Hyena as part of “structural changes,” a shameful move for a game that didn’t even have a chance to make it out of the gate. A few months later, Sega has it looking like Creative Assembly is back doing what it does best, which is making real-time strategy games like the Total War series. Now, a new report from DualShockers appears to reveal what Creative Assembly is working on. According to “reliable sources” who spoke to DualShockers, Creative Assembly is currently developing three new Total War games, one of which is an officially licensed Star Wars game.

Honestly, Star Wars is perfect for a series like Total War because of its wide range of factions across all media. DualShocker’s report has few details about the game, noting only that “Creative Assembly may be preparing to release Total War: Star Wars in the next few years,” but there is no specific timeline for when the game will be released. The report states that Star Wars is the second of three new Total War games in development as of October 2023. Total War has been an annual series since 2014, with the exception of 2021, the most recent being Total War: Pharaohs, so a Star Wars title releasing within the next few years seems feasible.
This isn’t the first time Creative Assembly has worked with someone else’s IP, either, as it has previously produced several Total War: Warhammer games, as well as 2017’s Halo Wars 2. EA no longer has the exclusive rights to the Star Wars games as well, so it’s entirely possible that Creative Assembly is developing a game, though we’ll have to wait for an official reveal.
