Last week we heard about the changes Apple would be making to system settings in macOS 15. In case you were wondering if the changes are really going to happen, a quick X article Thursday evening by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed the report initial. by AppleInsider.
However, while AppleIsider’s report focused on macOS 15, Gurman’s post also references the upcoming iOS 18. Gurman st ates that Settings “gets a new UI with a revamped, cleaner layout that’s easier to use.” navigate. Search is also much improved. Gurman’s post makes it seem like Apple is doing more to unify the look of Settings between macOS and iOS, which was the original idea when Apple introduced System Preferences changes to System Settings in macOS Ventura.
According to AppleInsider, macOS 15’s System Settings will have sections in the left column reorganized so that it’s easier to find the most frequently accessed settings. Additionally, some settings will be grouped into other settings, such as wallpaper. Gurman’s “new UI” makes it seem like a little more drastic changes might be in store.
Gurman also notes that Control Center is receiving updates, but no details are provided, and no other outlets have reported the new Control Center. (Hey Apple, how about letting third-party apps access the Control Center? That would be cool!) Gurman publishes his Power On newsletter every Sunday, so maybe he’ll provide more details then.
