Hyperlight Drifter Developer Heart Machine takes players to an atmospheric, flooded city in its next game. Owner. Like 2016 Hyperlight Drifter and 2021 Solar ashthe upcoming Owner is a fast-paced, stylish game that seems to stay true to Heart Machine’s core ethos.
Heart Machine describes Owner as a “fast-paced action side-scroller with platformer-inspired combat, a story told through dangerous characters, set in a deeply interconnected world waiting to be explored.” You play two different characters – Luca, the host, and Rehm, their “not exactly cooperative counterpart” – as they learn to live together and survive the “interdimensional catastrophe,” according to the press release.
The trailer, released on Friday, shows this action unfolding in a fast-paced side-scroll through the dimly lit city, where Luca and Rehm seem to be the only bastion of color. The trailer sets the tone with slow, gentle music that provides a direct contrast to the tense, fast-paced action on screen.
Owner is scheduled to be released in 2025 for consoles and Windows PCs.
