O Mother gesture location in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

“O Mother” is one of five gestures added Fire ring in the Shadow of the Earth Tree DLC, and it’s crucial for accessing a portion of the Shadow Realm map, the Hinterlands. You’ll need access to this area in the northwest of Scadu Altus to complete Count Ymir’s questline, so the “O Mother” gesture is of paramount importance.

In this Fire ring Guide, we will show you where to find the “O Mother” gesture and where you need to use it.

To learn the gesture “O Mother”, you need access to Bonny Villagewhich lies west of Scadu Altus and southwest of the Moorth Ruins. The O-Mother gesture is located directly north of the Bonny Village map icon, at the far northern end of the village landmass.

Once you reach Bonny Village, head east and double jump on Torrent across the small ravine that divides the village, then ride north until you see a lone tree at the north end of the village.

There is a headless statue right under this tree. Interact with it and you will receive the “O Mother” gesture.

How to get to Bonny Village in the Elden Ring

Bonny Village is accessible through an underground tunnel that can be reached from the Moorth Ruins. A hole in the ground east of the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace is your entry point, but be careful which way you enter the underground area.

The best and safest way to reach this underground area is via a ledge in the broken remains of the Moorth ruins, seen below.

From here, traveling through the underworld of the Moorth Ruins towards Bonny Village is fairly straightforward. You’ll encounter a few Shadow Undead and Candelabra Mages, and can acquire the Shattered Stone Talisman and the Golden Arches Summon along the way.

You’ll know you’ve found Bonny Village when you reach the rope ladder pictured below.

Where can you use the “O Mother” gesture?

To access the Backland and that Ruins Map (2.) Areayou have to go through Shadow Keep. From the Shadow Fortress, Back Gate of Mercygo north where you will see a side passage to the east that leads to a headless statue of Marika. At this altar you must use the “O Mother” gesture to open a secret passage that leads to the Place of Mercy in the hinterland.

From here you will face a pair of tree guardians and have access to the Shaman Village and Fingerstone Hill, where the Finger Ruins of Dheo are located.
