There seems to be some news regarding the great Okami. The franchise could continue in the future, according to recent statements.
Specific, Hideki Kamiyawho has worked on projects such as Viewtiful Joe and Okami, has already expressed his interest in returning to these franchises in the past. Now he has offered interesting details about his development.
Ikumi Nakamura and Hideki KamiyaCapcom and Tango Gameworks veterans, have offered statements in a new video about their time working together on projects like Okami. Kamiya reveals that while Okami was meant to be developed by a “dream team” at Clover Studio, this did not materialize.
He mentioned that there was a huge disparity in team talentdescribing it as “weak” overall, though he did single out certain members, including Nakamura, who shined significantly. Despite these exceptional members, Kamiya concludes that the team as a whole did not live up to initial expectations of being a dream team.
“Okami was supposed to be the flagship title “Clover Studio,” he says. “That’s why we wanted to create a dream team. It was supposed to be a dream team with the best people in each section. That was the plan, but in the end, not everyone, but the team as a whole, I frankly think was weak.”
“It wasn’t a dream team,” he continues. “There were a very drastic contrast in its interior. There were definitely people without whom there would be no Okami. Those members shined brightly. Some of them really shined brighter than others I had worked with previously. I don’t mean this as a compliment, but you [Nakamura] The final era is one of them. Naoki Katakai and Kenichirou Yoshimura, Sawaki Takeyasu, Mari Shimazaki, and Hiroshi Yamaguchi. I am very gratefulbut taken as a whole, it was not a dream team.”
