A new Elden Ring boss may have just appeared in the real world, as someone smarter than me has discovered that the teeth of the Komodo dragon (the largest (living) lizard we know of) are made of iron. To me, that looks like metal.
Komodo dragons are well-known apex predators, usually at the top of the food chain wherever you find them. These hostile yet beautiful creatures can weigh over 300 pounds, have been known to attack humans (rarely), and sometimes even devour each other, so it’s easy to believe they exist.
“These guys’ teeth were found to be coated in iron, which is one of the reasons why Komodo dragons are so powerful, with the orange iron coating covering the jagged edges and tips of their teeth, making them incredibly sharp. We know these beasts tear into the flesh of their prey, and their newly discovered iron coating goes a long way toward explaining how this creature is able to keep its teeth white throughout its life.”

The new discovery is also important because it could ultimately help scientists and scholars learn more about extinct species and dinosaurs, as well as how they lived. The serrated edges of Komodo dragon teeth are called serrations; such teeth lack the enamel we humans have, but are able to remain healthy enough to shred prey over many years regardless.
It’s pretty difficult to look back in time and understand how certain species lived because of fossils, but Komodo dragons are one of the few living species that still have Diplodocus teeth, so we can learn a lot from them.
Now, I definitely don’t recommend you go into a fight with a Komodo dragon with your Darkmoon Greatsword replica. I’m afraid no amount of “getting better” will help you win this fight. If you get bit by one of these guys, a Crimson Flask won’t save you from possible sepsis, as the Komodo dragon’s mouth harbors all sorts of bacteria from eating rotten flesh.
In the meantime, I’d stick with Magma Wyrm and Bayle the Dread from Elden Ring to deal with your dragon problems. You’re more likely to come out unscathed.
Before you head back to the “between-grounds” to prove who’s boss to Greyoll or Agheel, let me introduce another fierce creature that deserves a little more attention here: the vicious ironclad beetle. While not as brutal as a Komodo dragon, these guys are pretty tough. This beetle is so tough that it’s used to provide stronger joints for engineering applications.
This beetle cannot fly. Instead, it has uniquely structured elytra that allow it to resist being crushed; it can even survive being run over by a car, making it the ultimate container for insects.
Anyway, that’s enough about real-world Elden Ring-related creatures for now, but let us know any other real-life beasts you think would be great to fight in a FromSoftware game!
