Finally premiere for the Gothic Remake! Here are over 4 minutes of real gameplay

Finally the meat bug is out of the bag: THQ Nordic has shown the first real gameplay of the Gothic remake. All three camps of the Minental can be seen, as well as many creatures such as molerats, scavengers, monitor lizards, goblins and minecrawlers.

In addition, several old acquaintances make an appearance, from Diego to Thorus, we have spotted some comrades from the past – we have listed all the details in a separate article.

We know that Gothic is very important to many of you. That’s why we really want to hear your opinion: How do you like what has been shown so far? Does this give you a pure Minental vibe or do the stiff character models put you off? Please vote here!

The difficult remake

The developers are facing a pretty difficult task with their remake project. On the one hand, Gothic should feel like it used to – edgy, heavy, rough and completely different from other big role-playing games. On the other hand, improvements in graphics and gameplay are urgently needed to attract a modern gaming audience.

This balancing act should be about as easy as killing a swamp shark with your fists. At least the gameplay looks very familiar, many locations are recreated almost exactly, and the weapons and armor also look very familiar.

What is definitely new is the much more detailed world (okay, no wonder, 23 years later) and the stylish lighting, which is based on the power of the Unreal Engine 5. In terms of gameplay, the magic system and the crafting, for example, are to be polished up, and the nameless hero can now climb, as can be seen briefly in the video.

Please let us know in the comments what you like so far and what you don’t like so much. What do you think a Gothic should deliver in 2024? Do you think the remake can also inspire newcomers?

Thank you very much for participating in our Gothic survey, we look forward to reading your views.
