The highly anticipated Avowed, the next big RPG from Obsidian (Fallout New Vegas, The Outer Worlds), unfortunately has very bad news to announce, and even the head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, has his say.
Well, Xbox is patiently waiting for the release of its next big games, and there are a few planned soon. First up, of course, is Call of Duty Black Ops 6. The FPS, now known as Xbox Studios, will be released on consoles and PC at the end of the year. Starfield will be entitled to a major DLC aimed at families, which we also expect in the coming months (but which doesn’t have a set release date yet), and Indiana Jones, the FPS from MachineGames, will also be released before December 2024. RPG fans are also waiting for Avowed, Obsidian’s next event game. Unfortunately for the latter, there was just some bad news.
Awoved, that won’t be it for now…
You understand that you’ll have to wait before you can get your hands on Avowed. Obsidian’s hugely ambitious RPG is going to be delayed, and significantly so.
Rumors have been piling up about this in recent days, but ultimately all parties communicated on the subject. The release was originally planned for November 2024. “Avowed” will not be released until February 18, 2025
As a reminder, Avowed is a semi-open RPG that takes us into a particularly colorful heroic fantasy universe. We know very little about the plot, except that dialogue and choices will play an important role in the adventure. The game will also be based on a combat system that combines close combat confrontations, magic spells and ranged attacks. Avowed was sold by Obsidian as a particularly ambitious game. We’ll know for sure next year.
Avowed will therefore be available for Xbox Series and PC on February 18, 2025.
