The start of the school year got off to a great start with the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2024! As the first trailer to kick off the evening, 2K Games decided to take the lead and formalize a game particularly awaited by fans: Borderlands 4.
The return of the border areas
Eagerly awaited by video game fans every year Gamescom is finally opening its doors! While the show was supposed to last several days, this year it starts with a show hosted by the usual Geoff Keighley, who promised us some nice surprises. And as if to confirm his words, it was 2K Games who struck fast and hard with the first announcement of the evening. So the developers released an explosive first teaser for the highly anticipated Borderlands 4!
Fans will not have needed more than a few seconds to guess which game it is. In fact, from the beginning of the teaser (which you can find in our automatic reader at the top of the article) it is the icon of Ardent Fowl that (literally) takes up all of space before an entire planet appears. Unfortunately for its inhabitants, a few seconds later it collides with what looks like a crystallized crack in space-time, eventually triggering a meteor shower on the floor of another planet in orbit. The camera then moves closer to an impact point to make it visible a well-known mask from the Borderlands universebefore the game title finally appears.
How can you forget the film’s fiasco?
Ultimately, this teaser doesn’t reveal much about what this famous Borderlands 4 will look like, except that the Burning Falcon and the Sadists should be back. But the most important information is of course the release date since The teaser still ends with a huge year 2025without further details. The most impatient can already put the game on their wish list steam, Epic Games, PlayStation5 and Xbox Series. At the moment, it is impossible to know if the game will be released as a temporary exclusive on the Epic Games Store, as was the case with Borderlands 3.
Obviously, the release of this trailer can quickly be seen as a way to appease gamers who may have been disappointed by the recent theatrical release of the live-action film. The latter was indeed a major flop at the American and worldwide box office, due to a quality that fell short of the expectations of fans of the looter-shooter. From now on, we can finally look to the true future of the license: the famous Borderlands 4, scheduled for 2025.
