With the upcoming expansi on Vessel of Hatred, Diablo 4 finally gets a brand new class: the Spiritborn
These warriors from the depths of the Nahantu jungle offer a cool mix of lightning-fast attacks, powerful elemental attacks, and a unique class mechanic that lets you draw on four different spirits.
We’ll give you an overview of everything you need to know about the new class.
The Spiritborn can do this
The Spiritborn is a versatile melee class that relies primarily on speed. Equipped with glaives, polearms, and battle staves, they can quickly rush toward the enemy and hit them with a deadly combination of melee attacks, poison, and shadow damage.
What distinguishes the Spiritborn from other classes is the ability to harness the power of four ghost guards to channel: the centipededem Adlerdem Gorilla and the Jaguar. Each of these Guardians offers a unique playstyle and different abilities that you can combine to create your own build.
Ideally, take a look at the following gameplay video, in which we show you the new class in action:

The Ghost Guardians: Four different play styles
One of the most exciting features of the Spiritborn class is that you can select up to two spirit guardians to alter your abilities in battle. You can choose from the following aspects:
- centipede: Relies on poison damage and debuffs that drain your opponents’ life over time.
- Adler: Highly agile and precise! This spirit controls the element of lightning and allows for quick, powerful attacks.
- Gorilla: A defensive warrior who relies on durability and physical strength to defeat the enemy.
- Jaguar: Aggressive and lightning-fast multiple attacks with fire damage for maximum damage output.
You can either specialize in one Spirit Guardian or combine the skills of two Guardians to create hybrids. This flexibility makes the Spiritborn an exciting choice for both veterans and newcomers.
Strengths and weaknesses of the Spiritborn
Strengthen:
- versatility: Thanks to the different spirit guardians, you can adapt the Spiritborn exactly to your playing style – whether defensive, offensive or as an all-rounder.
- speed: The Spiritborn is incredibly mobile and can quickly close distances to enemies or escape from dangerous situations.
Weaken:
- Presumably, the effective use of multiple Spirit Guardians requires some time to get used to and a well-thought-out build.
The Spiritborn offers a lot of room for many different builds, depending on which spirit guardians you prefer. If you want to let enemies bleed out slowly with poison, a Millipede Setup with a focus on poison damage. If you prefer to go for a fast pace, a Adler-Build with lightning damage and increased critical hits to better suit your style.
The expansion will be released on October 8, 2024 – and just in time for the release you will find some strong builds here.
