Anyone who was hoping to spend their Christmas virtually in the Shire will have to think of something else, because Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game is coming later.
Weta Workshop actually planned to let you experience the life of a hobbit this year – when Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game was announced, the second half of 2024 was mentioned. Nope, nothing will happen by the time the title is released, as there are still some hairs growing on the hobbit’s feet.
As Weta Workshop announced, the game will now be delayed until early 2025. We know the reasoning: the team wants to make sure that the game is “everything you hoped it would be,” and to meet that standard, they have decided to delay the release. Apart from that, autumn, which is jam-packed with blockbusters, may not be the best time for a release strategically.
Nevertheless, on September 22nd, Weta Workshop still wants to hold a showcase to give you a closer look at the gameplay of Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game.
The game itself sounds like a dream for fans of the cute halflings. You can create your own hobbit and customize it with a whole range of different options. You can then also set up your own hobbit hole with different furniture and decorations. There are various activities such as cooking, fishing, gathering, gardening and more – you can then use caught fish or collected mushrooms to make pies for lunch, for example.
As the game progresses, you must help bring the community together and make Wasserau a constantly growing village by hosting the largest Wasserau village festival the Shire has ever seen. Just not this year.
