Three years after its exclusive release on Apple Arcade, the new game from the creator of Final Fantasy made a big announcement during State of Play…
Once an inseparable name from Square Enix, Hironobu Sakaguchi is one of its veterans whose name will remain engraved in the history of video games. We owe him some of the JRPGs that marked the genre and later inspired hundreds of games. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey or The Last Story are just a few names among others, but he will always be remembered as the creator of the Final Fantasy saga.
At 61, Sakaguchi is not ready to hang up his mantle. After obtaining the flagship license from Square Enix, the father of the franchise set off for new horizons to develop his own game of this scale. Soon it will lose its exclusivity to be discovered by gamers of all walks of life.
Final Fantasy Dad’s new game keeps its release date
Its name: Fantasian Neo Dimension. A JPRG that marks the great return of the father of Final Fantasy with the legend Nobuo Uematsu at the music. It also marks the return of an old-fashioned collaboration, since this port will be published by none other than Square Enix. The two historic partners will therefore come together to bring the game to consoles and PC and we finally have its release date. The date is therefore set for December 5, 2024 on PS4, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC and for collectors there is a small surprise.
Fantasian Neo Dimension will finally be released in physical version on the same day, but only on Switch and PS5. At the time of writing, we do not yet know if France will be affected, but it will be quite possible to go through the import box, since these physical versions understand all European languages.
Fantasian Neo Dimension clearly carries the Final Fantasy touch, but has the peculiarity of incorporating quite charming dioramas as decoration. As for the gameplay, at first glance the game looks like a classic turn-based game, but there is a small twist with a more emphasized strategic dimension where you can send your opponents to a parallel universe. The placement of the opponents on the field will also be crucial, as it will be about the lines of attack. This new game had definitely been well received by JRPG lovers and Final Fantasy fans. See you at the end of the year to find out what this port is worth on consoles and PC.
