Google has introduced a new Chromebook feature: The Quick Insert button makes it possible to quickly insert content on new devices. Here’s how to use it on older Chromebooks.
- New Chromebook Plus devices come with a Quick Insert key built into the keyboard.
- This allows users to quickly access Google’s Gemini AI to generate content for insertion into a document or email.
- If your Chromebook doesn’t have such a key, you can simulate the action by pressing a specific key combination.
Google’s new Quick Insert button on more expensive Chromebook devices is super handy: With just one click, you can use Google’s own Gemini AI to research, generate and insert content into a document or message.
But not all Chromebook models have such a button. However, that’s not a problem. The Quick Insert key can be simulated on older Chromebook models with a key combination.
This is how you simulate the Quick Insert button
To do this, open the document or message in which you would like to use Quick Insert. Then – depending on which of the two buttons your keyboard has – press the Launcher key + F or the Google key + F. The Quick Insert window will then open and you can access Gemini and much more .
Tipp: The Del key can also be simulated on Chromebooks.
