The long-running battle royale Apex Legends could get an optional, paid monthly subscription in the future. This is what a new survey from Electronic Arts suggests.
Apex Legends has been successful on the market for many years now and is also based on prominent competitors such as Fortnite. After the success of Fortnite OG last year, Apex Legends also tempor arily returned to its original map – and now it could also use a different model.
In this case, what is meant is Fortnite Crew, because Apex Legends could also opt for a paid monthly subscription in the future. This emerges from a new survey by publisher Electronic Arts, which gauges interest in such a model among gamers.
Anyone who takes out a monthly subscription can regularly receive in-game currency, monthly rewards and Battle Pass tiers. Fortnite Crew works in a similar way, offering exclusive skins, V-Bucks and Battle Pass tiers for subscribers for 12 dollars a month.
Such a model for Apex Legends has not yet been officially announced, but in view of the detailed survey, such an announcement could be imminent. The fact that EA and Respawn are looking for new ways to monetize the game will probably come as a surprise to very few players. Of course we will keep you updated!
