ARC Raiders is another major project in development by Embark Studios, a team made up of DICE veterans who have so far delivered the excellent free-to-play multiplayer shooter The Finals. This week’s gameplay reveal trailer offers approximately six minutes of footage captured from a gameplay test held last month.
Before we get into the action, the trailer gives a quick recap of the premise, revealing more about the state of the world than we’ve seen before. In ARC Raiders, squads of up to three players venture into the world to collect supplies, collect data, and solve mysteries – all while remaining wary of AI enemies and other players trying to do the same.
Much of what’s shown in this commentary trailer should be familiar to players of extraction shooters. There are plenty of quests to find loot and perform small tasks for rewards in the hope that players can survive long enough to make it back to base.

One of the more interesting mechanics shown off in the trailer are red flares, which signal a rival Raider has been downed, effectively inviting others to investigate an area. Of course, this could be the result of a PvP conflict or a simple PvE encounter.
It all has to do with the way the game handles encounters with other players, since you don’t engage with them immediately. The trailer shows players asking their opponents to form a team and divide the loot. Of course, all the action takes place in third person, but we only see a few basic guns used, which may indicate the scarcity of powerful weapons.
