There are a few things to consider before making a purchase. Apple launched new MacBook Pros in late October 2024. The 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros feature new M4 chips, but they also offer more RAM than the previous generation. This means that when considering deals on older M3 Macs, it’s important to take into account that there is less RAM in these models.
This doesn’t just apply to the MacBook Pro. When it launched the M4 MacBook Pro, Apple also doubled the RAM of the M3 MacBook Air from 8GB to 16GB as standard. So it’s important to pay attention to how much RAM is included in an M3 MacBook Air, otherwise you may not get the bargain you think.

What does Apple propose in 2024?
We don’t yet know the details of Apple’s Black Friday deal, but based on previous years, we expect Apple to offer gift certificates for the purchase of certain products.

- We tend to find that the biggest savings are on older models, but be aware that these aren’t always the best value for money.
- Check the generation of the model being discounted to make sure you know exactly what you’re buying and what it’s actually worth.
- We’ve seen resellers shift to selling refurbished or used Macs when stock of new models runs out. So check that the model on sale is not actually a used Mac and is therefore not as good a deal as it seems.
- This doesn’t mean you should avoid refurbished models – you just need to make sure you’re not buying refurbished models unknowingly.
- Mac deals aren’t limited to Black Friday. We see great deals all year round, so don’t feel pressured to shop during Black Friday.
