Eight years after the release of the first film, the fierce Polynesian teenager is back in a highly anticipated sequel. Moana, now an experienced sailor, receives a vision from her ancestor Tautai Vasa. According to him, the evil god Nalo, desiring power over mortals, sank the island of Motufetu, connecting all the islands and ensuring humans' connection to the ocean. Moana is the only person capable of bringing Motufetu to the surface and restoring the old order.
Moana can count on the help of shapeshifting demigod Maui, her pet pig and rooster, as well as Maui fanboy Moni, craftswoman Loto and grumpy old farmer Keke. The whole group embarks on an adventure inspired by Polynesian mythology.
The story of Moana and her friends is best seen on the big screen. However, if you already want to watch the animation again, here's when it might be available on home media.

How to watch Moana 2 now
Currently, the animation is available exclusively in cinemas in the United States and will be released in UK cinemas on November 29.
In the United States, you can book tickets on the AMC Theaters or Fandango websites.
In the UK, tickets are available from Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld.

When could Moana 2 be released on VOD?
Walt Disney Studios has not revealed when the film might have its digital premiere. However, we will estimate the possible date based on the studios' previous film releases.
Disney's two previous blockbusters, Deadpool and Wolverine and Inside Out 2, appeared on VOD 67 days after the theatrical release. Moana 2 will likely follow a similar path. If this happens, the film may be available for purchase or rental in January/February 2025. As digital releases generally take place on Tuesday or Friday, possible dates are Friday January 31 or Tuesday February 4.
Please remember, however, that these dates are only estimates. We will update this article when Disney provides more information.
When could Moana 2 be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
The Moana 2 release date on DVD and Blu-ray is also unknown. However, Disney is usually quick to release physical copies of its films. Deadpool 3 and Inside Out 2 appeared on store shelves just 3 weeks after their VOD debut.
There is therefore a good chance that Moana 2 will arrive on VOD and Blu-ray after February 20, 2025.

When could Moana 2 be released on streaming services?
Moana 2 will find its way to streaming on Disney+, and it could happen quite quickly. Inside Out 2 arrived in service 15 days after the physical copies were released. Deadpool and Wolverine needed a little more time and appeared on Disney+ three weeks after their DVD and Blu-ray debut.
If Moana 2 follows the same pattern, the film could be released on Disney+ from early to mid-March 2025.
