Phew, the shot backfired. After Infinity Ward kicked out the trios mode in favor of other game variants, the fans went on the barricades. This is now having an effect.

Infinity Ward is busy diligently exchanging game variants in Call of Duty: Warzone from time to time to ensure variety. However, there was very little favor among the fans that the popular trio mode with three-man squads in favor of the quad mode plus scopes and scatter guns fell victim to this approach on Tuesday.
The much more chaotic quad mode with four-man teams is far less popular with the players than the more coordinated three-player version. Infinity Ward has now responded to the player rebellion. Trios mode should already return today with the update of the playlists in the evening. The developers have now announced this on Twitter. It is still unclear whether one of the other modes will be lost as a result.
We hear you loud and clear! We'll be doing a playlist update tomorrow night, Thursday, April 16th at 11PM PST that brings BR Trios back to #Warzone.

This should smooth the waves around the trios mode again and the players can then plunge into the Double XP weekend with peace of mind. Have fun.
