{{article_intro | texteAfter the giant Activision Blizzard, it's Capcom's turn to publish its financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31. And despite declining turnover, the Japanese publisher claims to record record profits for the third consecutive year.}}
The Japanese company therefore delivers a turnover in free fall from one year to the next, with a fall in revenues of 18.4%, thus going from 867.6 million euros to 707.7 million euros. However, thanks to the dematerialized sales of the company's many productions such as Monster Hunter World, the publisher still achieves record net profits. Indeed, the company recorded a jump of 27.1% in net profits compared to last year, over the same period, for a total of 138.3 million euros against 108.8 million euros.
As we said just above, Capcom's good health is due in particular to Monster Hunter World, which has more than 15 million copies sold worldwide, or to its extension called Iceborne, which, in turn, has sold 5 million copies. . Obviously, the success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake or Devil May Cry 5 games are also responsible for this success. As a reminder, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry 5 were respectively distributed to more than 5.8 million and 3.1 million worldwide as of December 31, 2019.
Although Capcom says that some of its divisions are suffering from the current pandemic, such as distribution for example, the company also specifies that the core business of video games is not particularly affected. Thereby, Capcom forecasts another record year for the year ending March 31, 2021, with net sales up 4% for turnover of 737 million euros, and net profit up 13% for a total of 156 million euros.
