New features in Windows 10 version 2004
- Reset Windows: You can now reset Windows 10 via the cloud. So far, locally saved files were required.
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth devices can now be paired with Windows 10 via notifications (by default at the bottom right of the desktop, next to the time). You no longer have to take the detour through the settings menu.
- Login without a password: PIN, fingerprint and face recognition can now be activated in the menu item Settings -> Accounts -> Registration options. To do this, set the slider under “Windows Hello login required for Microsoft accounts” to “On”.
- Open apps when Windows starts: You have the option to independently set apps such as File Explorer so that they open (not) after a start or restart, if you have not closed them beforehand. To do this, navigate to the registration options and set the “Restart apps” slider to “On” or “Off”. Previously, “Use my login details …” had to be set to “Off”.
- Emojis: More kaomojis (Japanese emojis) are now available in the Windows Emoji panel. Press Windows key + period key (».«) To call up the associated menu.
- Virtual desktop: You can rename virtual desktops as you like. Previously, virtual desktops were called “Desktop 1”, “Desktop 2” and so on by default.
Features particularly interesting for gamers
- Xbox Game Bar: Now supports third-party widgets and can be adjusted accordingly. There is also an fps display.
- WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS: Support for WLAN 6 (Wi-Fi 6, 802.11ax) and WPA3
- Task manager: The Performance tab now also shows the GPU temperature.

System app improvements
- Microsoft Edge: Depending on the system and individual settings, the new browser now uses up to 27 percent less RAM. This means that other programs have more resources available.
- Cortana: The voice assistant can now respond to queries in natural language. For example, “Is it going to rain tomorrow?”, In German “Will it rain tomorrow?”. This affects both voice recognition and keyboard input. The German version is currently not yet available.
- Computer: The Windows-own pocket calculator can now be pinned on and stays in the foreground.
- Notepad: The text editor has a new search / replace function and fast text zoom. An asterisk in the title bar also warns of unsaved changes.
Further improvements in accessibility
- Mouse: The cursor speed can now be adjusted in Settings -> Devices -> Mouse. Previously, you had to navigate to the old system control.
- Text cursor: You can change the color of the text cursor indicator. The Windows Magnifier can also hold the text cursor in the middle of the screen.
- Network cameras: You can now link them to the PC.
