The combat system of the sci-fi survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn is based on genre greats such as Resident Evil and Dead Space.
In October, Bloober Team revealed its new horror project Cronos: The New Dawn, which is scheduled for release in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Players take on the role of a time traveler who is sent to a merciless post-apocalyptic Poland in the 1980s as an agent of the mysterious organization Collective.
Game director Wojciech Piejko now provides new details about how the whole thing will work in terms of gameplay Interview with MP1st.
According to him, the combat system is based on genre greats such as Resident Evil and Dead Space and is also refined by unique combat mechanics. But Piejko didn't want to reveal exactly what this looks like:
“The overall combat in Cronos takes a cue from RE and Dead Space, but we're still storytellers at heart, so please expect a strong focus on story and atmospheric exploration as well. The time traveler relies on suits, weapons and abilities, but is still very vulnerable to the monstrosities that lurk in the ruins of an ancient world.”
“You will be outnumbered and you have to be careful to survive. Resources are limited and the monsters hit hard. We have also prepared something special to spice up the fight and increase the tension. I can't reveal much yet, but in Dead Space you have to cut off the limbs of the Necromorphs, in Alan Wake you have to shine a flashlight on the enemies and in Cronos you have to… wait for it ;]”
