Halo Infinite will be released in fall 2021. This was announced by 343 Industries on the licensing page through the voice of its creative director Joseph Staten, a former member of the company who returned last August to help restore the project. The developer is therefore planning a little less than a year of extra work to deliver a solid game that the summer demo can forget about. She was a little concerned about her condition, which is fully recognized, as Neil Harrison, who is in charge of the artistic part, says:

The main focus of the campaign demo in July was on showing the Halo Infinite gameplay for the first time. While this aspect has been presented the way we wanted it to be, the reality is that artistically and visually it was not up to the level we wanted to deliver with Halo – even in a state of work in progress.

I want to free Craig

First off, I can confirm that the facial animations on the NPCs were not in their final version, which made Craig look incredibly straightforward / lifeless. All characters are modeled in a neutral pose before facial expressions and animation are applied. Poor old Craig was never meant to be seen in this state, nor so prominently during the game. It wasn’t until later, in the frozen close-up of his one bad moment, that he appeared and the legend of Craig was born.

More work has been done on material fidelity and more variety for brute faces. We’re also working on adding hairstyles and beards that we hadn’t done in July. While we have come to love our dear old Craig, he is certainly in a great transformation.

Craig isn’t the only model to benefit from improvements, however. Some significant changes have been made to other characters and 3D models as we continue to develop and refine our content, some of which can be seen in-game. Spartan and the renderers shared today.
