This week Spotlight hour is all about Pokémon Chill, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to catch a shiny cubchoo in Pokemon Go.
While Cubchoo and its evolved form, Beartic, don’t have much use in Pokemon Go, being quite awful in the Go Battle League and raids, it’s a great opportunity to seek out the elusive 100% IV Cubchoowhich is usually a seasonal spawn.
As usual, catching as many Pokemon as possible is this week’s Spotlight Hour plan, though the main attraction really is the ability to max out the Double Transfer Candy Bonus that runs alongside the event. .

Cubchoo 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokemon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Cubchoo with perfect IV stats.
“Perfect”, of course, means two things in Pokémon Go. First, there’s the 100% Max IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, raids, and your Master League. Yet, due to the way CP is calculated using these three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in Master League, Raids, and Go Rocket Battles.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokemon’s IV without catching it first, so it helps to know the CPs at which a perfect Cubchoo will spawn.
If you’re level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following PCs for a perfect 15/15/15 Cubchoo:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above that level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of it. of simplicity. These values will however be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Beartic good at PVP?
No. No, this is not the case. For such a terrifying Pokémon, Beartic is awful on every level. Simply put, it’s not bulky enough and its movements are very limited.
That’s disappointing, considering he already performs the best ice-type fast move, Powder Snow. This fast charge move is famous for Mamoswine, Abomasnow and Walrein. What follows is Ice Punch, which is correct, and Surf, which is confusing. It’s good to have some cover, but it’s not good enough to make Beartic an attractive pick in the Big League, where he managed to beat Trevenant, Nidoqueen and Altaria, but lost to Azumarill, Medicham and Stunfisk (a trio you’ll see incredibly often, and is one of our favorites), along with Swampert and Sableye. Beartic? More like Be-urgh-tic…
In Ultra League, Beartic is pretty consistent. Trevenant and Nidoqueen fall to the mighty bear, as does Galarian Stunfisk, but you can expect quick losses to Swampert, Cresselia, Walrein, Giratina, and Talonflame – all of which are meta-relevant and popular.
Finally, we have Master League. A perfect 15/15/15 Beartic tops out at CP 3439 at level 50, which isn’t bad. The lack of volume seen in previous leagues is therefore less of a problem here. As for matches, you are looking to beat Garchomp, Dragonite, Mamoswine, Togekiss and Excadrill, he loses to Mewtwo, Giratina, Zacian, Lugia and Dialga. Maybe if Beartic gets a more interesting move suite he’ll become a more dominant force in the Master League, but we don’t see any real use before that.
The Season of Mythic Wishes continues with the Winter Holiday event, which brought Mega Glalie to Pokémon Go. Don’t forget to take part in the new season of Go Battle League. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres.
Is there a Shiny Cubchoo in Pokémon Go?
Yes there is Shiny Cubchoo in Pokémon Go and his cold has really gone to his head!
Shiny Cubchoo and Shiny Beartic came out at the start of the Galarian Mr. Mime event in December 2020, and there’s even a shiny costumed Cubchoo with a ribbon in his hair.
What Does Shiny Cubchoo Look Like?
Shiny Cubchoo is so clogged his head turned purple, poor thing. Shiny Beartic, meanwhile, took on a slightly darker, almost muddier blue. It’s a much less cute shiny, as you’d expect from this creepy ice bear.

Other things to know about Cubchoo Spotlight Hour
Spotlight Hour always brings a bonus to exploit, and this week it’s double transfer candies. As always, this lasts all hour and affects more than just the Pokemon in the spotlight.
The smartest way to max out the bonus here is to have a tag in your Pokémon storage just for this purpose. We recommend creating one called “Transfer”, where you can place Pokemon you don’t want or need. Instead of transferring them as you catch them, hold them off for events like these when you can mass transfer them. All of these candies stack up very quickly and are especially useful when transferring something like a Mewtwo for a double candy!
It’s also worth noting that, thanks to Cubchoo being Ice-type, catching a group during that Spotlight hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.
Spotlight Hour events are only one hour long – 6-7pm local time – don’t worry if you can’t make it to this week’s event. The January Spotlight hours have yet to be announced, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know more!
Good luck finding a perfect Shiny Cubchoo!
