How to Get the CALUS Mini Tool in Destiny 2
The CALUS mini-tool, like all opulent weapons, comes mostly Leviathan and Calus-related activities.
Containment is a group activity that takes place on the Leviathan, pitting all Guardians in the area who wish to participate against multiple waves of enemies, spread over three rounds. It ends with a boss fight, after which a chest appears, and for 500 Vestiages of Dread you can purchase an additional drop, which can earn you the mini-tool.
Meanwhile, the opulent chests around the Leviathan are another possible source of CALUS mini-tools. You’ll need an Opulent Key to open these chests, but every time you open one there’s a chance a CALUS mini-tool will be waiting for you.
Finally, there is the Umbral Focusing option. You’ll need to level up the Crown of Sorrow first, but once you do, you can visit the Crown aboard the HELM and focus Umbral Engrams into Opulent Weapons.
Best of all, the first you focus on each week is a guaranteed Deep Sight/Red Edge weapon; leveling it up will give you weapon crafting materials and eventually unlock a blueprint that will allow you to craft and customize your ideal CALUS mini tool.

CALUS Mini-Tool god roll recommendation in Destiny 2
Each CALUS mini-tool has the original To Excess trait, which grants bonuses to strength and discipline after kills while your super energy is full.
The CALUS Mini-Tool “god roll” will take advantage of the weapon’s speed advantages and allow it to take out masses of enemies in a very short time. If you collect enough models for this gun, you can create your own and customize the reels to select one of the available perks.
here is our recommended CALUS mini tool roll in Destiny 2:
- Corkscrew
- Tactical loader
- grave robber
- Incandescent
Corkscrew is a strong fan of CALUS Mini-Tool. This improves maneuverability, range, and stability, making this weapon both easier to aim and deadly from further away.
Tactical loader adds a small amount of ammo to the magazine and slightly improves stability. But the real benefit is the big reload speed bonus. This is a weapon that should ideally keep firing with minimal downtime, and fast reloading is a big part of that.
grave robber has a function similar to Tactical Mag, allowing the gun to fire with minimal interruption. With this, melee kills will partially reload the CALUS mini-tool, ideal for the close quarters and aggressive combat the gun is suited for.
Incandescent significantly changes the operation of CALUS Mini-Tool. Kills create a burning area of effect around the target, spreading the burning effect over time to nearby enemies. It’s almost like a poor man’s Osteo Striga, grounding groups of low-level enemies and setting up tougher enemies for the ignition effects of Solar-based builds.
As usual, once you have your favorite jet, be sure to upgrade it to a Masterwork to give it a stat boost, the ability to generate orbs on multiple kills, and add the option of a kill tracker!
