This week Star time is about the Water Bubble Pokémon. This means that it is the perfect opportunity to catch a Dew Spider In Pokémon Go!
Catching as many balls as possible is the plan for this week’s Spotlight Hour—both because of the chance to hunt a shiny PVP Pokémon in Pokémon Go and because of the double Stardust catch bonus that’s running alongside the event.

Dewpider 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to grab a Dewpider with perfect IV stats.
Of course, “perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go. First, there’s the maxed-out, 100% IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for in your 4* Pokédex, raids, and Master League. However, because of the way CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect IV Pokémon is only ever the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Dewpider based on CP alone.
If you are level 30 (or above), you will ideally be looking for the following CP for a perfect 15/15/15 Dewpider:
Wild CP value is your Trainer Level until you reach Level 30, and since the majority of players are now above that level, we’ve kept these values for simplicity. These values will be different if you’re currently below Level 30, however.
Is Araquanid good at PVP?
Yeah, actually, it’s not bad. Technically speaking, Dewpider and Araquanid are the only Water/Bug-type Pokémon in the game, and we love it when a unique type works well?
What do you mean there are a bunch of Bug/Water-type Pokémon (Surskit, Wimpod, and Golisopod) and it’s not mechanically unique? It doesn’t matter, because we’re talking technical details here.
So while it’s not mechanically unique, it’s an interesting detail. Back in the Go Battle League, Araquanid runs Insect Bite, Insect Buzz and Bubble Beam. While it was a handy counter to Walrein, both have fallen out of favor. It’s still a decent Pokémon in the Great League, there are just better options these days (like Golisopod).
In Super League, you can expect victories against Cresselia, Shadow Whiscash, Quagsire, Vigoroth, and Medicham. Losses will come from Lickitung, Skarmory, Shadow Gligar, Annihilape, and Azumarill.
As for the Ultra League, we see a rapid decrease in returns, with our CP capping at 2065 for a perfect 15/15/15. This means that the extreme bulk we saw in the Super League is now starting to be outclassed. You can still win against Greninja, Umbreon, Cresselia, Walrein, and Swampert, but expect losses from Talonflame, Giratina Altered, Poliwrath, Virizion, and Steelix.
Dewpider is just awful in Master League.
The Max Out season is here! It kicks off with the GO All Out event, which brought us new Pokémon from Generation 8, including Grookey, Scorbunny, and Smear, as well as the Galar Call quest. Max Battles and Dynamax Pokémon are making their debut in Pokémon Go. You can now visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the Going to Max quest! Don’t forget to try out routes, gift exchanges, and party play as you hunt for rare Pokémon, battle in the Go Battle League, or participate in PokéStop Showcases.
Is there a shiny Dewpider in Pokémon Go?
Yes, Shiny Dewpider is in Pokémon Go! It was released in August 2023 at the start of Go Fest 2023, alongside the Petilil family.
Keep in mind, of course, that this isn’t a Community Day and shiny rates aren’t being increased. This means that while it’s technically possible to catch a shiny Dewpider during the event, the odds of finding one are incredibly low.
What does the Shiny Dewpider look like?
Shiny Dewpider looks pretty cool.
He trades his lime green for a deep purple, and his blue eyes and accents for a gorgeous shade of red. The same can be said for Araquanid. Obviously, his water bubbles don’t change color, but that makes perfect sense. Overall, they’re both very cool shines, as you can see below!

Other reasons to catch as many Pokémon as possible
Besides trying to catch a perfect poly in Pokémon Go, there are a few other reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour.
- The best reason is, of course, the Double Capture Stardust Bonus running throughout the hour. The base rate of 100 Stardust per capture, meaning each capture is worth 200 Stardust.
- If the weather in Pokémon Go is in your favor (in this case rainy), you will get double the normal weather bonus (50 extra Stardust).
- This all stacks with a Star Piece to give a 1.5x multiplier to all Stardust earned.
- Since Dewpider is a Water/Bug-type, catching multiple of them during this Spotlight Hour will add progress to your respective Catch Bonus Medals.
Spotlight Hour events last just one hour, from 6pm to 7pm (local time). Check back next week for a sneak peek Wobbuffetwhen he makes his way into the spotlight!
Good luck finding a perfect Dewpider Pokémon!
