Drilbur 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to grab a Drilbur with perfect IV stats.
In Pokémon Go, the word “perfect” means two things, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the 100% max IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you need for your 4* Pokédex, raids, and Master League. However, because of the way CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect IV Pokémon is usually just the best version of itself in Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Drilbur based on CP alone.
If you are level 30 (or above), you will ideally be looking for the following CP for a perfect Drilbur 15/15/15:
- Level 30 (Maximum Wild CP) – 1179 CP
- Level 35 (Maximum Wild CP enhanced by weather) – 1277 CP
Wild CP value is your Trainer Level until you reach Level 30, and since the majority of players are now above that level, we’ve kept these values for simplicity. These values will be different if you’re currently below Level 30, however.
Is Excadrill good at PVP?
Yes.
While Excadrill is by no means a god-tier Pokémon in PVP, it is reliable thanks to its long list of resistances. The only problem is that Shadow Excadrill outperforms the regular version in all leagues, so be aware of that before you start spending resources to upgrade one of your Pokémon. The good news, of course, is that if you already have a Shadow Excadrill, this is a great opportunity to get some Drilbur Candy.
In each of the three leagues, you look Mud Shot (Fast), Drill Run and Landslide (Charged) as Excadrill’s best moveset. It’s spammy, flexible, and has decent shield pressure.
In terms of wins and losses, in the Super League you can expect to eliminate Bastiodon, Lanturn, Charjabug, Altaria, and Wigglytuff. Losses come from Shadow Whiscash, Annihilape, Shadow Gligar, Lickitung, and Skarmory.
In the Ultra League, you can score victories against Charizard, Pidgeot, Steelix, Skeledirge, and Talonflame, but you should be wary of Virizion, Cobalion, Poliwrath, Cresselia, and Giratina Altered.
Finally, we have the Master League. This is normally where we tell you that Spotlight Hour Pokémon don’t belong here, but Excadrill is pretty strong and worth considering if you roll a perfect 15/15/15. Excadrill can take down Metagross, Dialga, Zekrom, Togekiss, and Lugia, which is pretty impressive. The losses will come from Landorus Therian, Giratina Origin, Kyogre, Dragonite, and Mewtwo.
Is there a shiny Drilbur in Pokémon Go?
Yes, there is a shiny Drilbur in Pokémon Go!
It’s important to remember, however, that since light hours don’t have an increased shiny rate, the chances of finding a shiny are the same as in the wild. You just have a higher chance of finding one due to the number of spawns.
What does the Shiny Drilbur look like?
As you can see below, the Shiny Drilbur trades in its usual blue stripes and pink nose for a pink stripe and blue nose. While it’s not the most exciting color change, the Shiny Excadrill takes it a step further.

The Shiny Pokémon Excadrill changes its charcoal coat to a dark purple, and its red spots to a turquoise that really stands out. You won’t be able to miss that this Pokémon is shiny!

Other tips for this Spotlight Hour
Aside from trying to catch a shiny Drilbur in Pokémon Go, there are a few other great reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour:
- The best reason, perhaps even more than Drilbur himself depending on how long you’ve been playing Pokémon Go, is the double capture xp
- This bonus can be stacked with a Lucky Egg, which doubles the amount of XP you earn for each activity in Pokémon Go.
- If you’re new to the Spotlight, this Spotlight Hour is a great time to collect enough Drilbur Candy to evolve this Pokémon into Raichu in your Pokédex.
- Since Drilbur is a Ground-type, catching a group during this Spotlight Hour will add progress to your respective Capture Bonus Medal.
Spotlight Hour events last just one hour, from 6pm to 7pm (local time). Check back next week for Lileep and his Double Candy Catch Bonus.
Good luck finding the perfect drill!
