THE Carian Study Room is a location in Elden Ring, which you can discover east of Liurnia of the Lakes.
This is not part of the Elden Ring critical questline, but completing it grants you access to Liurnia’s Divine Tower, which is an important part of Ranni’s questline. So to help you get through it and beat the boss that awaits you at the end, read on below for our Carian Study Hall Walkthrough.

How to Get to Carian Study Hall
The best way to reach Carian Study Hall is via the Site de Grace at City gate of the Academy. Start there, go east and follow the path to the building. Here’s the exact location on the map, along with an alternate route from southeast Liurnia that you can also take:
When you arrive, activate the first Site of Grace’Entrance to the study room‘ and you will see a pedestal on which you can place a special item. THE Inverted Statue of Carian of Ranni is used here to unlock access to the Divine Tower of Liurnia. For now, head up the stairs to an elevator.
It will lead you into a huge room, where ghosts will surprise you in the dead end on the right. Collect 1x Golden Rune (3)run to the left and up the stairs.
Boss: How to beat Tutor Miriam
Ghosts will appear at the top, including a hostile NPC named Miriam’s teacher, and this lady is just mean. Her arc shots can flatten you immediately and she takes little damage.
This fight is either very tiring or doesn’t happen at all, as you can just run away very quickly (and is arguably recommended if you want to kill all the ghosts in the area first).
If you choose to fight Miriam, try to stab her in the back when she draws her bow. She will teleport away from you after taking some damage.
This continues several times and each time she reappears higher up in the tower, while the normal ghosts also get involved. Go up the stairs until you find the Glintstone’s Carian Staff after a few more ghosts.
At the end, get on the next elevator and continue upwards. The upper floor of this immense library is arranged in a ring. Here you will find 1x golden rune (4) guarded by ghosts and a ladder leading upwards (also with ghosts).
Miriam will continue to teleport out of your range so she can fire her bow. She also uses the spell Magic downpour to make your path even more difficult. This phase is the worst. One mistake could end your trip.
If you have your own bow, you can use it here and fight Miriam from a distance.. Sinon, poursuivez-la du mieux que vous pouvez, éliminez les fantômes lorsqu’ils apparaissent et profitez au maximum des quelques opportunités qui s’offrent à elle. She drops the aforementioned witchcraft Magic downpour.
(Tip: You can also go past the first of its spawn points and deal with the ghosts in the library beforehand so they don’t ruin your visit).
Completion of the Carian Study Room
The ladder will take you to some rafters at the top, unfortunately full of rats. Don’t let the little beasts get you down.
Take another (short) ladder here and at the top, where you can’t go any further, you’ll find the Cerulean Seed Talisman near a corpse, which increases the FP restoration of the Flask of Cerulean Tears. This is where the “normal” study room ends.
However, after completing Ranni’s quest, you will have the necessary statue and can place it on the altar next to the entrance to access the Divine Tower of Liurnia.
