Elden Ring Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs Walkthrough
On the way to the Giant’s Forge, you will pass the place. Just before the long wall that serves as a bridge, you can follow a secluded path to the entrance on the right.
Here is the location on the map:
Behind Grace’s site “Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs”, go down the stairs and kill the little one that comes towards you. There are two more of his kind hiding in the room he came from. Beat them to a pulp and you will find 1x Gantoise of Grace (7).
Back out again and take the left passage heading north. More enemies will attack you here, so be on your guard and take them out quickly. Follow the passage behind, which will lead you to an elevator. Take the elevator down.
If you want to take an optional detour, let it go back up and wait for a second elevator platform to appear from below.
Use it to descend into a hidden area. Deal with the enemy, then the Erdtree Burial Watchdog, who is here as a normal enemy (in the Frost Magic variant).
Below the stairs you will then find 1x Tomb Glove (8)Enter the passage to the north, but be extremely careful, as the statue in front is projecting frost.
Wait until the freezing fog has cleared and run down the passage to the left (don’t step on the panel on the floor). In the room at the end there are two enemies and 1x Tomb Glove (8).
Then run towards the ice-spitting pillar and hit it once to silence the ice breath. Follow the passage behind it to the north, but again, be very careful, as a second ice-spitting pillar awaits you.
This time you need to take cover behind a pillar near the wall on the right side to disarm the trap after sprinting hits the wall to make it disappear and reveal 1x Ghent Ghost (7) next to a goblin.
Another guard dog is roaming the hallway, this time in the melee variant. You can lure it back to where you came from and hit the pillar again to use the ice breath as support.
A tricky spot, but at least the pillars stay down. Behind the guard dog you’ll find a treasure chest with the Ashes of the Fire Monk. This concludes the detour down here. Take the elevator back up to the floor where you can continue.
Head through the western hallway and turn left before the still-closed boss door. Three enemies await you in the next room, two of which have nasty projectiles.
Behind them we reach another elevator. Downstairs, break the living jars and the big one in the room with the statue.
Go up the stairs to the right and avoid the slab on the floor to not trigger the ice arrows. You will find yourself in a room full of falling arrows. Move forward carefully and watch out for the living ships, which not only rise but also explode.
Turn left into the next hallway and follow the stairs east until you reach the room with some poisonous earth slimes. Quickly take them out if you’re looking for the runes, or just walk past them.
In the next room there are more living ships and one of the larger ones at the end of the corridor, where we find 1x Ritual Pot. Now let’s go back to this place:
We find 1x Stimulant Bolus by the corpse and can fall next to him. We land in the familiar room with a statue and take the opportunity to pick up 1x Emerging Butterfly.
Head down and take the passage to the right of the statue’s line of sight. Go through the rooms with the drop axes and the earth slimes behind them before taking out a giant ship with the trap on the ground.
In the alcove, go down, passing several ledges this time. In the room with the statue, head in the direction the statue is facing.
At the elevator you can take an optional detour up, kill some gnomes and the guard dog and find 1x Tomb Glove (9) And 5x Root Resin next to that.
Otherwise, let the elevator go up and then go back down. If you want, turn off the big container, but the most important thing is the lever for the boss door in the next room. Once you activate it, you’ll find 1x Golden Rune (10) next to that.
Jump and run north towards the statue. After one last elevator ride, you’ll be able to fight the boss.
How to Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs in Elden Ring
Another tree spirit. We have already seen enough enemies of this type, for example in the tomb of a Fringefolk hero or in the catacombs of the undead.
This one doesn’t behave any differently, it’s just stronger, but otherwise it’s exactly what you’d expect. Use summons if necessary. It takes a moment for the tree spirit to emerge from the ground.
Your rewards for defeating this ulcerated tree spirit are 48,000 runes, a golden seed, a Ghent gatherer’s bell bearing 2, Root of death.
