Final Fantasy 16 Huntsalso known as Bounties, are picked up from the hunting advice at the Hideaway, and each pits Clive against a unique “notorious mark” that tends to be tougher than the usual mini-boss types.
The hardest of these are the S-rank hunts, and they’re also the hardest to find, because every hunt in Final Fantasy 16 isn’t pinned to the map. Instead, you have to figure out where they are with the clues provided on the board, and some of them are incredibly vague.
To save you time, we have listed Hunting locations in Final Fantasy 16 below including how to unlock hunt boardand what Hunting Rewards you get for killing each mark.
Please note that this is an ongoing guide. We’ll update the page when we unlock more hunts.

Final Fantasy 16 Hunts Explained
Hunts have appeared in many Final Fantasy games over the years with slightly different mechanics each time, but the main objective remains the same: to get a bounty and go kill it for rewards.
It sounds simple enough, but in Final Fantasy 16 you actually have to figure out where a hunting target is, because their positions aren’t pinned on the map. It can be as simple as looking at a target’s “Location” description on the hunt board, or as difficult as trying to figure out which province you should even seek it out in.
There’s also no way to pin a hunt to your quest list, so we recommend taking a screenshot or photo of every bounty description you want to refer to, instead of having to go back on the board every time.
Each hunt – also known as a bounty or “notorious mark” – is assigned a rank: C, B, A or S. The easiest targets to locate and fight are the rank C targets, and the most difficult ones are given a rank S. S-rank hunts are much harder than even A-ranks, so it’s best to leave them until the end of the game, or when you’re at a similar level to them, or higher.
The loot for defeating each individual Hunt is different, but you’ll still be rewarded with EXP, Ability Points, Gil, and Renown for killing a Notorious Mark, and the higher the Hunt Rank, the more you get.
If you want to start hunting you will have to visit the hunting board first, but it is not available at the start of the game.
How to Unlock Hunt Board in Final Fantasy 16
You have to wait a while to start doing hunts in Final Fantasy 16 because the Hunt Board only unlocks during the main quest “The Gathering Storm”. You will encounter your first Notorious Mark, Ahriman, during this quest. Fighting him here is optional, but we recommend killing Ahriman during the quest to save time later.
When you return to the Hideaway during “The Gathering Storm”, a few new features will become available, including the Hunt Board, located next to Nektar the Moogle. To unlock more bounties on the Hunt Board, you will need to progress through the story. Keep an eye out for the yellow marker on the Hunt Board symbol, as this tells you when new targets are available.
Additionally, some hunts only appear on the hunt board if you have started the required side quest. We’ve detailed what these side quests are below, along with all the other hunting locations.
