Getting started can seem tricky in Gran Turismo 7. All that promise promises and you’re left with a rather underwhelming choice of cars. We’re talking about cars that most people could afford in life.
From the start, we recommend the Toyota Aqua S ’11. It’s a pretty dull looking hot hatch but it’s cheap and immediately accessible with 349.25PP. Barely 120 horsepower offers reasonable acceleration and its handling is quite good for the price.
the Honda Fit Hybrid is a little cheaper but its handling is not as reliable as the Toyota. If you’re keen on investing, the savings can come in handy when you tune the car yourself.
Fastest car in Gran Turismo 7: What is the fastest car in Gran Turismo 7?
As in any racing game, the “fastest” car can have different meanings. This can mean the fastest accelerating car, the one with the highest top speed, or a car that corners quickly.
In the case of this guide, we look at the cars that have the highest top speed. Of course, we don’t ignore excellent handling or good acceleration, as both are important to achieve the listed top speed.
The fast cars in Gran Turismo 7 are best suited for tracks that have long straights to go, but when it comes to a more technical track you might want to favor a car with superior handling so you can handle those tricky turns.
Often when you tune a car for speed you actually want to focus on tire quality rather than power, so be sure to upgrade your tires to the right type to handle the road conditions you meet more appropriately.
For absolute top speed, the best choice is the Dodge SRT Tomahawk X VGT. It’s ridiculously fast. It offers 2,586 horsepower, which means it can reach top speeds of up to 404 mph. It is incredibly light at 749kg and has a 7000cc engine with 1336.12 PP.
Everything about it is excessive, which is why it costs 1,000,000 credits through Brand Central. It’s certainly a goal to aim for, but there are other more achievable cars worth your money in the meantime.
Another excellent choice is the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta ’12. It might be awkwardly named, but it’s a good late campaign option if you’re trying to save some cash.
The car has 739 horsepower, 634.16 PP and costs only 373,000 credits. Ok, it’s not cheap, but you can get it for free. Complete menu book number 38 and you get the car along the way, but that’s right at the end of the game, so you might want to invest earlier.
Either way, improve it as much as possible – but remember what we said about weight reduction being more important than power.
Earlier in the campaign, the ’07 BMW M3 is a better option. It costs 93,000 credits, which should be pretty easy to get to, and it’s unlocked after completing Menu Book Event 22. A PP of 533.76 feels positively quiet compared to the Tomahawk, but you’ll appreciate its reliability and the ability to tune it up to 624.44 PP. 415 horsepower is more than enough for this level.
Gran Turismo 7 best rally car choice
Rallying isn’t the focus of Gran Turismo 7, and it shows. However, when you have to handle dirtier tracks, a supercar with ridiculously high speeds is the last thing you need. Instead, you need something with great handling and traction.
Whichever car you choose, consider the need for dirt tires. They will significantly reduce your PP, but they are essential for rally racing.
Our favorite rally car is the Audi Sport Quattro S1 Pikes Peak ’87. It can be earned from Menu Book 37 or bought from Brand Central, but you really don’t need Rally Cars very often – with that in mind, it’s best to wait until you unlock it in the campaign.
With a PP of 688.06, that’s about on par with the other two cars that unlock at the same time – the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 ’86 and Ford Focus Gr.B rally car which are almost the same. It’s up to you who you feel more comfortable with – ultimately rallying isn’t really a big part of the game.
Gran Turismo 7 Best American Car Pick
An American car is often required to participate in certain American races.
the Dodge SRT Tomahawk X VGT is the ideal choice, but it is prohibitively expensive for many people. Instead, we are rather in favor of Chevrolet Corvette C7 ZR1 ’19 road car.
With a little farm credit, it’s reasonably doable, and it offers 641.08 PP for a nice price of 134,000 credits. It’s a little heavy, but its 754 horsepower isn’t to blame.
If you have money to spend, there is always the Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R ’15 with a starting PP of 756.21. It’s expensive at 450,000 credits though!
Gran Turismo 7 Best European Car Pick
the Bugatti VGT Gr.1 is the dream European car to own in Gran Turismo 7. It has a mighty PP of 940.20 and a whopping 1,626 horsepower. It handles like a dream and oh yes, it costs 1,000,000 credits – meaning you’ll have to save a lot to own it.
Many of Europe’s top cars cost that kind of price – including the Jaguar Vision VGT SV and McLaren VGT.
A more achievable goal might be to stay with Bugatti and opt for the Veyron Gr.4 with its 433 horsepower and 640 PP. It still costs 350,000 credits!
Lower still, there is always the Porsche 911 GT3 (997) ’09 with its 579.76 PP and 428 horsepower. This should put many players in good stead before the big money rolls in.
Gran Turismo 7 best choice Asia-Oceania
You may have started with the ’11 Toyota Aqua S. You definitely want to override it.
We are fans of Lexus LF-LC GT VGT with its huge 851PP. It costs 1,000,000 credits so it’s an expensive purchase but it’s well balanced and offers 612 horsepower while being quite light.
More affordable and better for lower PP restrictions is the Nissan GT-R Nismo ’17. That’s 187,000 credits and you get 591 horsepower and 619.07 PP. Four-wheel drive means it will take some practice to master.
On a tight budget, don’t overlook Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition (FK8) ’20. Only 55,000 credits, it has 517.88 PP and 315 horsepower giving you the perfect foundation to build on. the Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) ’08 has similar stats for a bit less too.
