Gimmighoul’s journey into Pokémon Scarlet and Purple pleasantly surprised us after the last Nintendo Direct.
Generation 9 was full of surprises with all sorts of starter Pokémon like 7-star bosses and Pokémon TCG set 151. He also received new creatures through Pokémon HOME, including incredibly powerful Hisui Pokémon.
But the fun has widened, and this time the focus has returned to 5-star or lower raids, as players can obtain a special Gimmighoul.
Gimmighoul’s Teraid in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple
The Gimmighoul Terraid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple will be available for a limited time and will allow you to obtain a Shiny Gimmighoul.
Gimmighoul is a rather curious monster and his entire evolutionary lineage is very difficult to achieve. However, it can evolve into Gimmighoul, one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game, and now you can have it Shiny.
To capture him, you’ll first need to defeat Gimmighoul in his Teraincursion, which began June 21 and ends July 2 at 4:59 PM PDT. This might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you’ll want to know how to deal with it in case you’re lucky enough to find Gimmighoul Shiny.
What you need to know about Teraincursion Boss Gimmighoul
This event is quite special, since Gimmighoul’s Teraincursion in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple can have any difficulty.
Gimmighoul can appear in Tera raids from 1 to 5 stars. The more stars it has, the harder it is to become the equivalent of a level 75 Pokemon as a 5-star boss.
Something that might make the fight difficult is that Gimmighoul will have a random Teratype. This means that no Pokemon is always effective against it, and you’ll need to adapt to the circumstances to take as little damage as possible and inflict the most.
What we can predict will be their moves, which will always be the same and continue to benefit from the STAB multiplier if they did before. You’ll need to guard against powerful Ghost moves like Shadow Ball and Misfortune, both of which can cause massive damage. It will also feature Normal-type Knockdown and Rock-type Light Jewel.
As for his ability, he will have Cowardice, which increases his speed by one level when hit by Bug, Sinister, or Ghost-type moves. This may be unavoidable depending on the circumstances.
Finally, Gimmighoul’s Teraid in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple will be random, and the level will depend on the stars of the Tera-raid. Below are some tips on how to defeat him.
Best counters and strategies
To emerge victorious in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple’s Tera-raid, Gimmighoul will need more than luck, especially if you don’t have a plan of attack.
There are very popular Pokémon in both Raid and Competitive that can help you win the match in almost any circumstance.
Meowcara with Dark Teratype, he can do a lot of damage with attacks like Shadow Slash and Shadow Claw. Flower Trick will still deal critical damage, helping you in case your attacks aren’t super effective. You’ll just need to use Sharpclaws to increase Accuracy and Attack before you jump in.
Another popular option happens to be Speaking, as it will resist all of Gimmighoul’s attacks thanks to its Steel and Dark types. He can tank for a few turns while using Sword Dance to boost his attack before doing anything with Grimflint, Shadow Claw, or Iron Head.
Whatever you use for Gimmighoul’s Teraid, choose a Pokemon that can withstand its Ghost-type attacks and try not to trigger its cowardice ability. Also, make sure your Pokémon are at least level 75 and have an Unshakeable nature if possible.
