It doesn’t take long for Black Myth: Wukong to throw some tough enemies your way as the Destined, and in a must-fight arena in Chapter 1’s Bamboo Grove, you must face off against a powerful Yaoguai boss, Guangmou.
A mandatory fight, Guangmou is the first enemy in the game that pushes your abilities a little further. This boss has a large number of abilities that he uses in varied sequences, leaving you with little time to breathe. This encounter requires a good initial understanding of the Destined One’s combos, as well as a keen eye and quick reflexes to dodge his attacks. Facing Guangmou also requires you to learn how to use your all-important Immobilize spell.
To make sure you’re ready to take on this boss, we’ve put together this guide covering all the information you need on How to beat Guangmou in Black Myth: Wukong.

How to prepare for Guangmou
The battle against Guangmou marks the middle of Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong. You find them in an arena in the Bamboo forestafter following the path from the ‘Snake Trail‘sanctuary.
On your way to the Guangmou Arena, avoid fighting the snake yaoguai and skeletal yaoguai that you come across, as you’ll want to preserve your health for the upcoming fight. Eventually, you’ll go down some stairs and come to a dark and oppressive area with snake patrols. Simply ignore them and continue straight ahead to find an opening that will lead you into the arena.
Given your current level in the game, you should have progressed enough to take on Guangmou without too much trouble. However, you can always spend some time killing normal enemies to gain a level or two. In general, it’s always a good idea to Invest Sparks to increase your health and stamina. If you have enough of both of these stats, consider upgrade immobilize for this battle.
Although not mandatory, you can increase your chances of beating Guangmou if you have a Spiritual competence to use. At this point in the game you can have either the Wandering Wight or the Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang Frog.
You also won’t want to go into this fight without crafting—and equipping!—the first available armor set. Guangmou is more difficult to defeat than the usual enemies you’ve encountered so far in the game, making any additional upgrades a safe bet when facing them.
How to beat Guangmou
Guangmou is a step up in difficulty from the other major enemies you’ve fought so far. They have a wider variety of attacks and are also faster. However, they are not unbeatable! You just need to practice and learn how to respond to each of Guangmou’s attacks.
During the fight, Guangmou can use two types of projectile attacks. One is a volley in which the projectiles eventually converge on your position. This is a long-range ability – and Guangmou always starts the fight using it. The second projectile variation is a frontal cone attack. Guangmou fires the projectiles towards the ground within melee range. To avoid both of these attacks, you must prioritize dodge towards Guangmou.
When you are far away from them, Guangmou can also summon a small tornado where you are, or send a flurry of leaves towards you. You can easily bait these attacks and dodge them due to their good telegraphy. When you see Guangmou using their fan and the wind starts to gather around you or leaves are picked up on the ground, prepare to dodge
Now, if you stay too long attacking Guangmou, they might use an ability to knock you back – and deal damage – or unleash venom. It is possible to dodge these abilities, but if you are unsure whether you can evade them or not, I recommend going for a full combo and then getting some distance. Only when Guangmou uses the venom ability can you go behind them and continue attacking.. You should always keep in mind that dodging and attacking cost stamina and you don’t want to run out of it, leaving yourself exposed to all subsequent attacks.
As the fight progresses, Guangmou will become more creative, combining all of the above attacks and using teleportation to get closer or further away from you. They might get behind you to unleash venom or shoot projectiles. Be careful and be ready to get away from them if necessary.
Guangmou’s signature move is to summon four snakes from the ground.. You know they’re about to summon them because Guangmou starts waving his arms around. It may look like a dance you’ve seen in old movies, but they’re actually summoning these snakes that will all shoot venom at you as soon as they appear. The best way to avoid this attack is using Immobilize while Guangmou moves his arms
Guangmou Rewards
Once you learn how to deal with the venomous snakes and Guangmou’s dance moves, defeating them is only a matter of time. Defeating them will reward you with 700 XPwhich will probably at least get you closer to the next level. You also get 515 Will, 1x Stone Spiritand one Iron Bull Blood material.
The best reward you will receive for completing this fight, however, is the Summoning the Spirit of Guangmou. When equipped, this spirit grants you access to Guangmou’s signature move, allowing you to summon a few snakes onto the battlefield. The Guangmou skill works best in a single-target scenario, as you focus all of the venom on one enemy, making it easier to poison. This skill costs a lot of Qi, but it’s worth it as it gives you the ability to damage enemies even when you’re not directly attacking them.
Considering how many duels you’ll still face in Black Myth: Wukong, the Guangmou Spirit is a powerful skill to have with you, especially when it comes to the next boss fight in Chapter 1: the White-Clad Noble.
