How to complete the Witch Sellen questline in Elden Ring

complete, Elden, Questline, Ring, Sellen, Witch

The character Cells in Elden Ring there is a witch who has been banished from the Raya Lucaria Academy.

Sellen not only teaches magic (which makes it interesting for magically inclined characters), but also provides a lengthy (and very convoluted) questline. To end Cellen’s Quest is worth it, not only for the equipment you get, but also because you will have the opportunity to see places that would otherwise remain unknown.

Follow this guide and we’ll show you all the steps needed to complete the Sellen side quest.

Meet Witch Hunter Jerren

During the dialogue, he talks about wanting to settle an old score, but it doesn’t make much sense at first. Keep talking until he has nothing new to say.

Note: If you’ve already been here, talked to him, and exhausted his dialogue, this step is not necessary.

Return to the Witchbane Ruins where you will see Jerren standing next to Sellen. Talk to him again until he repeats himself.

Activate Sellen’s Doll

Now go to the Three Sisters area in Liurnia and look around northeast of Ranni’s Tower.

At this point, guarded by a single noble, you can discover a secret passage leading to a cave by rolling on the ground:

On the back, you will find the message: “The puppet of Seluvis. Do not touch.” To the left you can destroy what appears to be a wall.

You will find a doll of Sellen’s body, into which you will need to insert the Primal Glintstone. This fills the doll with life and she is now available there as a magic teacher.

Sellen or Jerren?

To complete the quest, you must have already defeated Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Academy.

You will find two call signs in front of the entrance to the Great Library: one for Sellen and one for Jerren.

At the end of the quest, you must decide whether you want to support Sellen or Jerren. | Image credit: FromSoftware/Eurogamer

The quest can now be completed in two ways:

  • Summon Sellen and kill Jerren and you will receive various items as rewards: a quirky armor set and the Glintstone Kris weapon.
    • Sellen stays in the library until you find Lusat.
    • After Sellen’s transformation, you will be able to revisit Azur and Lusat’s bodies to obtain their clothes.
  • Summon Jerren and kill Sellen and you will also receive various items as rewards: Sellen’s Sound Pearl and the Witch’s Shimmering Stone Crown.
    • For example, you will receive an Ancient Dragonsmithing Stone from him.
    • You can then kill Jerren to take his clothes.

And that’s it, you’ve completed the overly complicated Witch Sellen questline. However, looking for more help on your journey through the Lands Between? Check out our guides to the best Elden Ring weapons, best classes, and best summons.
