How to craft weapons in Manor Lords
The first step to obtaining weapons is to upgrade your Burgage Plots. Level 2
To bring your Burgage plots to level 2, you will need to ensure that the following buildings are placed near the Burgage plots you wish to upgrade:
- A well
- A wooden church
- A market with 1x fuel stall, 2x food stalls, 1x clothing stall
To meet the expectations of your Marketplace Fuel Blockage Requirement, you will have to build either a lumberjack lodge or a coal oven.
For the Food stalls, you will need buildings that produce berries, meat, bread, eggs, vegetables, apples or honey. The easiest way to complete this requirement at the start of the game is to build the Gatherer’s Hut for berries and the Hunting Camp for meat. You can also convert backyard expansions of level 1 Burgage plots into vegetable gardens or chicken coops to acquire eggs and vegetables, but these cost regional wealth to convert and are more expensive to obtain in comparison .
Regarding the Clothing stand, the easiest way to get this early on is to get hides from the hunting camp and turn them into leather by building a tannery. You can also read our dedicated guide on how to craft clothes in Manor Lords if you want to diversify your offering.
Choose the right garden extension
Once you upgrade your Burgage plots to level 2, you will gain additional options for your backyard expansions. Here are the expansions you’ll need for weapons and armor, as well as the resources needed to craft each one (which mostly comes down to regional wealth and planks):
- Blacksmith’s workshop – Spears and handguns (5 regional riches, 5x boards)
- Fletcher’s workshop – Warbows (4x boards)
- Carpentry workshop – Shields (4x boards)
- Tailor’s workshop – Gambonsons (5 regional riches, 5x boards)
- Armorer’s workshop – Helmets (10 regional riches, 4x boards)
Remember: to unlock the gunsmith’s workshop, you will need to spend a development point on crafting basic armor skills before you can start making helmets. Likewise, if you spend another development point on advanced armor crafting, you will be able to craft mail armor, while master crafting will allow your armorer workshop to craft plate armor.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that building one of these workshop expansions will automatically convert the inhabitants of that patch of Burgage into artisans, meaning they won’t be able to perform other tasks in your colony.
Of course, there is another option for obtaining weapons: learning to trade Manor Lords. Trading allows you to import weapons that you can’t sufficiently produce yourself, so it’s a quick stopgap to defend against invaders while your colony continues to grow.
