THE The Fallingstar Beast in Elden Ring is the boss of Sellia Crystal Tunnel, a dungeon you will find in Caelid.
He’s a bull with beetle claws and a body studded with gems that takes incredibly little damage with normal weapons, and he’ll rampage wildly around the arena. This is definitely not a boss to try early in Elden Ring (especially if you get there early via the teleporter trap in the Dragonburned Ruins in Limgrave), but if you need help taking down this boss, you’re lucky. Continue reading below for helpful tips and strategic advice on how to defeat the Fallingstar Beast in Elden Ring.
How to defeat the Fallingstar Beast in Elden Ring
As a melee-focused boss, the Fallingstar Beast doesn’t give you the best chance. It is very fast and will attack with its claws, tail and magic spells.
First of all, all of his attacks can be blocked with a shield (even his magic and power attacks) and the stamina costs are reasonable enough to make it a viable approach to defeating this boss.
First phase
Although it is best to dodge some of the Fallingstar Beast’s attacks, blocking them with your shield remains a good tactic. The point you want to aim for is his headas it’s one of the few places that isn’t covered in stones, so you’ll do more damage there than the rest of his body.
The horns are his melee tools and he uses them in a variety of ways. Sometimes he swings them from above to hit you diagonally from the right. Sometimes he digs a bunch of rocks out of the ground and throws them at you.
When he extends both grabber claws and takes a running start, he will dash across the arena up to four times, always back and forth and to where you are.
It’s like a train that can’t be stopped until it cools down. Blocking is useless here, as the Fallingstar Beast will charge head-on at you. The best you can do is block the first contact with its head before it flattens you.
Dodging is the best idea in this case, and after completing his last turn, a good attack window will open for you.
Another useful opportunity presents itself when he starts generating purple lightning, which triggers electrical traps right below you.
He does this several times in a row and you should sprint sideways in this situation, not dodge. The latter may be a little too slow, meaning he’ll still hit you on his last attempt and knock you down.
To have the best chance in this case, you should flee to the side and avoid the entire sequence of attacks. Then, once he cranes his head upwards with a roar, it will take him a few seconds to regain consciousness. Exploit it mercilessly and go on the offensive.
If he jumps into the air and rolls up there, he will come straight down on you. A sideways dodge is best here, but a shield block will also do the trick in a pinch.
His pointed tail, on the other hand, is mainly used when he has his back towards you. Its range is significant and should not be underestimated, as it can sweep the ground very quickly.
Second phase
Once the Fallingstar Beast’s health falls below 50%he will raise the temperature and all his attacks will now also deal magic damage.
He’ll be happy to begin the second phase by launching you into the air and slamming you into the ground. This happens when you are standing in the inner ring of the arena, so save yourself from this deadly force field.
His other attacks are more or less the same as before, but one new addition is a charged beam that he directs to the side. You can sprint in the same direction and hope that’s enough, or dodge in the direction of the beam to get through. Then he must shake your head briefly before you can attack again, making this a good time to get in a few hits.
Keep trying your luck and you might even succeed in breaking his position. Then work on his head to deal lots of critical damage.
Your rewards for defeating the Fallingstar Beast are: 7,500 Runes, 1x Darkforge Stone (6), 5x Forgestone (7), 7x Gravity Stone Pieces, and Darkstone Miner’s Bell Bearing.
Congratulations on taking out the Sellia Crystal Tunnel boss. To continue your journey, your next destination should be Dragonbarrow Cave.
