Get chrome while driving is one of The Herald challenges you need to complete to unlock the Burning Ember Herald skin in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4.
While you won’t get any XP for completing this challenge, you will receive the Chrome-Gratulations emote as a reward and progress a bit further towards unlocking the Burning Ember variant of The Herald skin.

How to get chrome while driving in Fortnite
There are two easy ways to chrome while driving in Fortnite:
- Drive a vehicle in a chrome tornado
- Use Chrome Splash on a vehicle while driving
The fastest way to be chromed while driving if you use the chrome tornado method is to land in an area that usually has a vehicle, which is also close to a tornado. For this reason, we recommend landing at gas station southwest of Herald’s Sanctumbecause there is a chrome tornado in which you can drive at Herald’s Sanctum.
There are other Chrome Tornadoes that you can identify by the white swirl mark on the map, but they move every match, whereas the Chrome Tornado in Herald’s Sanctum currently doesn’t move.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 is here and with it comes a new Battle Pass! This season introduced EvoChrome weapons, Chrome Splash slots, and the ability to pass through walls. There are also new vault locations and map changes. Alternatively, you can chrome yourself while driving in get Chrome Splash and use it on the vehicle you are in by changing seats. You can switch seats while driving a vehicle by clicking the right thumbstick if playing on consoles.
You can find Chrome Splash by destroying structures covered in silver chrome stuff, including trees, rocks, and walls. You’ll know a place is covered in chrome if it’s purple or silver on the map.
The areas where you will find the most Chrome structures are:
- Brilliant sound
- shiny lagoon
- saint of the herald
- shimmering sanctuary
- Cloudy Condos
It’s also worth noting that if you’re playing with a friend, you can have them splat Chrome at the vehicle you’re driving to get it chromed, instead of having to do it yourself.
