How to get the Family Crest in Dredge

To get the Family Crest in Dredge, you need to venture further into the Gale Cliffs.

The location of the family crest.

Do not, however, go through the entrance directly to the left of Hermit Harbor (marked as Ruins on your map). Although your map makes this path look clear, there is actually a line of rocks blocking your way to Family Crest.

Not to mention the giant fish that seems determined to kill you…

An error has been made.

Instead, you’ll want to navigate around the edge of the Gale Cliffs until you find an entrance leading to where the Family Crest is. Before doing so, however, we advise you to make sure you have an empty load (apart from your fishing equipment of course) for reasons that we will explain to you.

The best route we found was to sail through the gap to the right of Hermit’s Harbor/Ruins and, once across, follow the left side of the cliffs.

Cross this passage before following the cliffs to the south.

If you take this route, you will quickly reach a small island with a harbor which, if you dock there, will allow you to collect some useful items from an abandoned campsite. This island is also directly across from the opening you will use to reach the Family Crest.

We recommend waiting until it’s around two o’clock (2:00 p.m.) in the afternoon to pull the Family Crest from the depths of the ocean. Indeed, the night will have started to fall by the time you have collected the ridge, which means that you can catch a conger eel for the best before pursuit given by the resident of Ingfell.

We make this recommendation because at this point the giant fish stalking the cliffs of Gale will not be able to reach this area, which will make catching the eel much safer.

Now you need to go past all three wrecks to find the Family Crest dredge site, which has a golden glow, in the middle of the water in front of the waterfall. The Family Crest will occupy four square-shaped squares.

The Family Crest can be obtained from the dredge site with a golden glow.

Conger Eels will be in a fishing spot that will spawn to the left of the waterfall after six o’clock (6:00 p.m.) in the evening. It will take five S-shaped squares.

A conger fishing spot.

Remember – the conger eel must be rotting for the better before the chase, so sail with it in your cargo or rest in a harbor until the fish are suitably disgusting.

With the family crest on board, it’s time to bring the hermit back and ask, “Is this your family crest?” »

How to Unlock Explosives in Dredge

Now that you’ve returned the Family Crest, it’s time to unlock the packaged explosives in Dredge. To do this, you must visit the hermit’s brother in Ingfell after showing him the Family Crest.

The brother in question is the retired whaler and after telling him “I believe this ridge is yours” he will ask you to blow up some debris for him.

For this, you will have to navigate in the part of Gale Cliffs which is stalked by the giant fish which has no trouble attacking you. For this reason, we recommend that you make sure that you have installed faster engines than the ones your boat started with, because you will have to escape quickly.

When you’re ready, cross the gap in the cliffs to the left of the ruins/Hermit Harbor.

Walk through that arch…

You will first reach a circular area containing a wreck and a large outcrop sitting in the middle of it. From this area, you should also be able to see the blasting stone area – marked with yellow flags – on the right side of the passage to your left.

then along the passage to the right.

Before entering this passage, it is important to note that the giant fish will appear and start trying to attack you as soon as you start going down it. For us, the fish always spawned on the right side, so it’s a good idea to stay on the left side before moving on to explosives. You can also use haste to try to outrun the fish.

To blast the debris, all you have to do is interact with the line of rock marked with yellow flags and select “Yes”. After that, return to Ingfell and talk to the retired whaler again.

He’ll ask you to fetch his brother, so it’s time to go back to the Hermit’s Ruins/Port and tell the Hermit that all is forgiven. You’ll need to transport the Hermit to Ingfell, so make sure you have six squares arranged in a rectangle for free in your cargo.

When you arrive, the retired whaler will ask you to meet him at the whaling docks, and when you do, you will now find that he is selling packaged explosives. He will give you the first one for free, but then they will cost you $40.

Packaged explosives occupy two rectangle-shaped squares. If you have spare money, we recommend that you buy all the explosives he currently has for sale and put them in your warehouse. You’ll encounter many destructible walls on your journey, and having explosives safely in your storage will save you from having to return to Ingfell.

Those explosives also mean you can now get the music box!

Hope you enjoy blowing things up in Dredge!
