The Veilguard Patch 3 update

If you enjoyed the return of Dragon Age with The Veil GuardianThere are some cool quality of life changes and bug fixes in the latest patch that went live on November 21, 2024. I'll break them down below so you know what you're getting into.

Photo Mode updates

Photo mode now has filters! And if you're unsure where your images go in Photo Mode, wonder no more: the file path is now displayed in-game when you take screenshots, and filenames are simplified (with the date now included). You can now also bind your arrow keys to input mappings.

Gameplay changes

As for gameplay, you can now compare new rings with currently equipped rings either Slot, and the description of the Glint option is slightly different. Some weapons have new icons to make them easier to distinguish, and it's easier to see where your companion's enchantments are.

Even extended evasion doesn't get strangely wonky for Rooks of the “Mage” Persuasion. Some skill text has been changed to be clearer (and more accurate), and Antaam champions deal slightly more damage (as intended), and there are cases where this is the problem with enemies and companions getting stuck or attached inaccessible locations has been fixed. Speaking of fixes: That brings us to the bugs that Patch 3 is supposed to fix.

Bug fixes

All types of bug fixes are included, but not all will have an obvious or significant impact. The general focus is on fixing issues that arise with cutscenes, mesh and igamesnews interactions, as well as making some incredibly small balance adjustments to make some elements work as they were originally intended.

To get into specifics, Rook will not suddenly change his body shape or adopt strange facial expressions during or after certain cutscenes. Some other cutscene issues have also been fixed, including strange stretchy capes and clothing cutting through the character. The patch also fixes situations where music would randomly stop playing or the wrong sound effects or songs would play.

Pop-in issues and camera stuttering have also been fixed, and your favorite HDR settings are now (finally) saved properly.

Issues related to the codex, skill trees, quests, vendor inventory, quest objectives and cinematics, exploration, loading autosaves, really bright visual effects, stat buffs, and weapon modifiers have been resolved.

As a small bonus, some characters and environmental textures have been reworked to look better.

There's a lot to do in Thedas, and with the release of this patch your journey should go a little smoother. Get back out there, Rook, and put Photo Mode through its paces for me.

The full patch notes can be found at the official blog post. BioWare has confirmed that another patch will also be available. Further details will be announced shortly.
